Sam qualified from Peninsula Dental School, Plymouth, after which he worked in general dental practice in North Devon. After further training and work in hospital and the community dental service he has since developed an interest in oral surgery. He also has a keen interest in all aspects of general restorative dentistry, and is especially good with patients who have anxieties and nerves about treatment.
Sam trained and worked for a number of years as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery in Torbay Hospital where he continues to work part-time alongside his work at South Devon Dental. He is therefore able to offer more complex dental extractions including for roots that have become buried after incomplete extractions and also removal of wisdom teeth.
Sam has additional experience in a busy city community dental service and from this has developed many areas of his work especially the management of children and adults with anxieties about visiting the dentist. His warm and personable manner endears him to all of his patients who are often surprised at what he can achieve in spite of their initial reservations.
Sam is a family man and when his 2 young children permit, he enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities including sailing, surfing, cycling and running. He is also an active volunteer member of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team. At home Sam has a passion for cooking but spends most of his time trying (and failing) to not be outwitted by his children.
