Rebuild Teeth With A Dental Overlay.

Fabricated by master dental technicians

In instances where back teeth have been damaged by tooth decay, cracks, fractures or wear, sometimes the most effective and conservative way to rebuild the tooth is with a dental overlay.

Similar to crowns, overlays help to strengthen teeth that have been damaged and weakened by covering the surface of the tooth but also try to preserve as much remaining tooth structure as possible.

Again, similar to crowns and veneers, our overlays are fabricated by master dental technicians using the most modern high-strength tooth-coloured ceramic materials. The overlays are then bonded in place and help to restore the appearance and function of a natural tooth.

What is it?
A dental overlay is a type of restoration used to repair a tooth with moderate to severe decay or damage.
Who is it for?
Anyone with severe cavities in their teeth or severely worn down teeth. Overlays are often used to save as much of your natural teeth as possible.
Why get it?
Prevent further decay, potential tooth loss or infections as well as more costly treatments in the future.

White Fillings Or Traditional Amalgam?

The most widely used type of filling is amalgam. This is the one that most of you will probably know best and certainly for those long out of their youth. Amalgam has been a successful way of filling a tooth due to its strength and longevity, but it certainly isn’t without its drawbacks.

Questions About Dental Overlays

Here are some of the common questions we’re asked about Dental Overlays. All of our treatments are tailored to suit your individual needs. Treatments are tailored to suit your individual needs and the cost of White Fillings will vary depending on a number of factors, such as number of teeth and other treatments which may be needed. View the full dental price guide here to see the cost of dental treatments.

Dental overlays can last over 10 years or longer with proper care. To ensure their longevity, maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing daily, avoid biting down on hard objects like ice or pens, and attend regular dental check-ups and cleanings. Wearing a mouth guard if you grind your teeth at night can also help protect your overlay.

The procedure for getting a dental overlay typically involves two visits to the dentist. During the first visit, the dentist will remove any decay or damage from the tooth and take an impression to create a custom overlay. A temporary overlay may be placed on the tooth to protect it. During the second visit, the temporary overlay is removed, and the custom-made overlay is bonded to the tooth using a strong adhesive. The dentist will then ensure the overlay fits properly and make any necessary adjustments.
