Dentures

Dentures With South Devon Dental
At South Devon Dental, we consider the replacement of teeth to be critical in ensuring a high quality of life. Dentures are often an effective way of replacing multiple missing teeth. We want to make sure that you have the most comfortable, stable and natural looking dentures; therefore we use our team of master dental technicians to custom make dentures using the highest quality materials.
When done well, dentures can make a drastic improvement to not only your eating enjoyment, but they can also make you look younger by reducing frown lines surrounding your lips and cheeks. We use a range of different types of denture materials to determine which is the best option for you.
Are You Looking For A More Stable Solution To Missing Teeth?
At South Devon Dental, we are fortunate to have Dr Duncan Lamond who practices with a Special Interest in Dentures. Working in Devon since 2001, he has a passion and wealth of experience in creating dentures that are comfortable to wear and look like natural teeth.
Dental implants are now considered the most effective way of replacing one or multiple missing teeth. Unlike dentures, dental implants are permanently fixed into the jaw using a small titanium screw that replicates a root of a tooth; a dental crown or bridge is then fixed on to the top of the implant to achieve the next best thing to a natural tooth!.

While there is an adjustment period, most people can eat and speak comfortably with dentures after some practice.
- Eating: Start with soft foods cut into small pieces, and chew slowly using both sides of your mouth to prevent tipping. Gradually introduce harder foods as you become more comfortable.
- Speaking: Practice speaking by reading aloud and repeating difficult words. Over time, you will adapt to speaking with dentures, though some minor adjustments may be needed for a perfect fit.
If your dentures cause discomfort or sore spots, contact South Devon Dental for an adjustment. It’s common to need a few adjustments, especially when first wearing new dentures. Never attempt to adjust dentures yourself, as improper adjustments can damage the dentures and harm your oral tissues. Additionally, keep an eye on your oral health, and report any persistent issues to your dentist to prevent complications.
